Lok Siu, chair of the Asian American Research Center, has been named Associate Vice Chancellor for Research at UC Berkeley. Her new term will begin in January 2024; she will serve as the point of contact for Organized Research Units reporting to the VCR and coordinate oversight of research integrity among other duties. An award-winning mentor and scholar specializing in Asian diasporas in the Americas, Chinese diaspora, un/belonging and citizenship, racial/ethnic/gender formation, food, and ethnography, she is also an experienced leader who has served the campus and UC system in numerous roles.
