In a new article published in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, ISSI's Berkeley Center for Social Medicine faculty affiliate Mahasin Mujahid highlights the critical need for more research on the potential role of structural racism in shaping access to high-quality hospitals. The key finding is that racially and ethnically minoritized women have higher rates of severe maternal morbidity as well as differential access to high-quality hospitals.
