Salar Mameni, Asian American Research Center faculty affiliate, is the author of an essay/book review in Critical Ethnic Studies Journal. The essay, "A Living Peninsula," reflects on Laleh Khalili’s Sinews of War and Trade. Mameni encourages thinking of oil "as living rather than as a nonsentient matter waiting to extracted and turned into fossil fuel."
