A leader in antiracism and social transformation, Amani Allen, faculty affiliate of Berkeley Center for Social Medicine, is spearheading Berkeley Public Health’s journey towards becoming a more anti-racist institution, described in this Berkeley Public Health news story. Allen acknowledges that “while we have a long way to go, [Berkeley Public Health] came together to acknowledge the work that needs to be done and start the journey towards becoming an antiracist institution.” Allen’s work with ARC4JSTC (Anti-racist Community for Justice and Social Transformative Change) addresses faculty and workforce development towards creating antiracist institutions and serves as a strong foundation for continued progress towards ensuring antiracism within Schools of Public Health and is further discussed in a new article in the journal Preventing Chronic Disease, “Leading Change at Berkeley Public Health: Building the Anti-racist Community for Justice and Social Transformative Change.”
