Cecilia Mo, Center for Research on Social Change faculty affiliate, is co-author of an article on caste-class discrimination published by American Political Science Review. Analyzing data from a law enforcement survey in Nepal, the letter addresses the tendency of police to discriminate on the basis of caste and class when choosing cases to investigate. The article draws on recent events, such as the George Floyd murder and Black Lives Matter movement, to explore methods of detecting police bias and linking it to institutional discrimination.
