In the new book Terracene: A Crude Aesthetics (Duke University Press), Asian American Research Center faculty affiliate Salar Mameni theorizes the emergence of the Terracene: a period of environmental destruction and racialized militarism. Weaving together the work of various artists to depict the histories of colonialism and land use, Mameni elucidates the global war on terro as a consequence of human intervention and the weaponization of environments.
