Denise Herd, Berkeley Center for Social Medicine faculty affiliate, is quoted in this SF Chronicle article discussing the increase in apathy among Californians amidst a new outbreak of COVID-19 during the holidays. She points out that what looks like individual apathy is closely tied to systemic issues, including the lack of government support: “It’s the people with health insurance, with computers, with transportation options that still can really choose to be vaccinated or not.”
