ISSI's Berkeley Center for Social Medicine affiliated graduate student Alein Haro was selected as a Health Policy Research Scholar by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. This prestigious leadership program is designed for early-career innovators across disciplines who are historically underrepresented in their fields. Haro, a graduate student in Public Health, researches how systemic barrriers create health inequities that affect the health of immigrants, racial minorities, and individuals from low socioeconomic backgrounds.
