Troy Duster, Institute founder, was awarded the Society for Social Studies of Science (4S) 2022 Bernal Prize for distinguished contributions to Science and Technology Studies over the course of his career. "From revealing the social forces at play in the history genetics, to calling out the racial bias embedded in contemporary algorithms, Troy Duster has tackled the hard and pressing issue of bringing social justice into the production of scientific knowledge." The Bernal Prize recognizes Duster for his touchstone work in recognizing and highlighting the relationship between race, science, and technology.
