Asian American Research Center faculty affiliate Lisa Hirai Tsuchitani was recently appointed to serve on the Higher Education Committee Advisory Body of the California Commission on Asian and Pacific Islander American Affairs (CAPIAA). Tsuchitani represents the UC-system on the CAPIAA advisory body on higher education, which brings together representatives from K-12 schools, community colleges, and four-year institutions, to advance the educational component of the commission's mission. Created in 2004, the commission elevates the political, economic, and social issues of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders by advising the Governor and the Legislature on how to best respond to views, needs, and concerns of the state’s diverse and complex APIA communities.
