Peter Nelson, Chair of the Joseph A. Myers Center for Research on Native American Issues, collaborated on Good Fire: Tending Native Land, an exhibit at the Oakland Museum of CA from November 7 - May 31. The exhibit explores how Native communities in Northern California have used controlled fire to care for the land and sustain traditions for millennia from many angles, including art to ecology to traditional foods and basketry, and was organized in collaboration with Native California fire practitioners, artists, ecologists, and cultural leaders.
